Cleanup targets Eongal Coast, Black Sand Beach with Catholic Children and Youth Foundation

Jin Air carried out a coastal cleanup on Jeju Island Tuesday as part of its efforts to protect the marine ecosystem.

The airline partnered with the Catholic Children and Youth Foundation to clean up Eongal Coast and Black Sand Beach in Hangyeong-myeon, Jeju Island. The activity ran in two sessions — morning and afternoon — along the coastline near Suwolbong, a UNESCO Global Geopark, with Jin Air employees and foundation representatives taking part.

After a safety briefing, participants collected marine debris left along Eongal Coast, including discarded plastic, styrofoam and vinyl waste.

In the afternoon, the group moved to Black Sand Beach to clear fishing nets and other discarded netting washed ashore. Marine waste collected that day was disposed of in coordination with local government authorities.

"Through the hands-on experience of caring for the sea ourselves, we were reminded again of the importance of environmental protection," a Jin Air official said. "We will continue to carry out environmental cleanup activities in partnership with local communities and fulfill our corporate social responsibility."

Beyond coastal cleanups, Jin Air has been pursuing a range of ESG (environmental, social and governance) initiatives, including upcycling retired uniforms, running employee plogging campaigns and donating goods to vulnerable groups. The airline also consistently engages in community activities such as making charitable donations, sharing kimchi and delivering meals.

On June 10, Jin Air joined Air Busan and Air Seoul to conduct a hands-on accessibility training program aimed at improving travel convenience for customers with mobility challenges.
