About 22 trainees to be recruited starting Tuesday; monthly training allowance of up to 200,000 won ($130)
The Korea Environment Corporation, an agency under the Ministry of Climate, Environment and Energy, said Tuesday it will accept applications for the fourth cohort of its 2026 Greenhouse Gas Management Professional Training Program from June 23 through July 6.
The program was established to develop hands-on professionals capable of managing and reducing industrial greenhouse gas emissions, in line with the national greenhouse gas reduction policy aimed at achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.
The fourth cohort will select about 22 trainees. Applications can be submitted online through the "Course Registration" section of the Korea Environment Corporation Human Resources Development Institute website.
The program is open to prospective university graduates and unemployed job seekers, and training combines classroom instruction with field practice. Trainees will receive a monthly allowance of up to 200,000 won ($130).
The corporation plans to run six training sessions this year, covering a total of 104 participants. It will also support youth employment through job fairs connecting trainees with prospective employers and career workshops led by professional consultants.
Cha Gwang-myeong, the corporation's executive director of management planning, said the program "has served as a catalyst for creating environmental jobs through its high employment rate," adding that the corporation will "continue to do its best to generate social value through sustained support."
The corporation has trained about 3,000 carbon neutrality professionals to date. The employment rate among program graduates stood at 72.5 percent last year.
