Yecheon-gun in North Gyeongsang Province held a farewell ceremony Monday for outgoing county chief Kim Hak-dong at the grand hall on the fifth floor of the county office building. Some 300 people attended, including Kim, his family, guests and staff.

An Byeong-yun, the county chief-elect for the ninth term of local self-governance, also attended.

"I express my deepest respect and gratitude for County Chief Kim Hak-dong's dedication to Yecheon's development over the past eight years," An said. "I will successfully lead the ninth-term county administration on the foundation of uninterrupted progress that Kim has built."

The ceremony began with a commemorative video looking back on eight years of county governance, followed by the presentation of appreciation plaques and bouquets, remarks from Kim's family, his farewell address, a send-off performance by staff and a group photo.

In his farewell address, Kim said the past eight years had been possible because of the trust of residents and the dedication of public servants. "I am deeply grateful to everyone who worked together with one heart for the future of Yecheon," he said.
