Digital healthcare service MOU
Lotte Non-Life Insurance said Monday it signed an MOU with Kakao Healthcare to cooperate on chronic disease management and digital healthcare services for its national health insurance customers.
The partnership aims to combine Lotte Non-Life Insurance's health insurance capabilities with Kakao Healthcare's digital health technology to deliver personalized health management to policyholders.
Under the agreement, the two companies plan to provide employees of corporate group insurance subscribers who develop chronic conditions with healthcare devices — including continuous glucose monitors (CGM) and ring-type blood pressure monitors — as well as Kakao Healthcare's AI-based blood sugar and weight management solution "Pasta" (PASTA). Pasta, launched by Kakao Healthcare in February 2024, syncs with CGMs to display real-time blood glucose data.
Lotte Non-Life Insurance will also develop new insurance products and supplementary services linked to Kakao Healthcare's offerings. Kakao Healthcare, in turn, plans to draw on its health technology expertise to help enhance Lotte Non-Life Insurance's product lineup.
The two companies plan to build a model converging the insurance industry and digital healthcare, collaborating on identifying joint cooperation models, expanding customer touchpoints and activating health management services.
"This MOU shows the potential for insurance to evolve beyond simple coverage into a service that improves customers' health and quality of life," a Lotte Non-Life Insurance official said. "We will work with Kakao Healthcare to create a new ecosystem where insurance and healthcare come together."
