District Mayor Jin Kyo-hoon joins festivalgoers on the scene
Magok in Seoul's Gangseo-gu was buzzing with energy as the district hosted the second MCT Festival — short for Magok Culture & Tech Festival.
Despite steady rain on Saturday, crowds packed the festival grounds, with long lines snaking through booths offering hands-on programs and food.
The undisputed highlight was the MCT Big Concert, held in partnership with the Korea Music Copyright Association (KOMCA), chaired by Lee Si-ha.
The seven-lane road in front of Magoknaeru Station was transformed into a massive outdoor venue. Every seat was filled before the performance began, and lines of concertgoers stretched well beyond the stage.
District Mayor Jin Kyo-hoon arrived early and threw himself into the festivities — moving through the grounds, chatting with attendees, and singing along and cheering during the Big Concert.
Saturday's Big Concert featured performances by Im Chang-jung, Hwang Ga-ram and Young Pa C, bringing the crowd to a fever pitch. On Sunday, Kwon Eun-bi, DK and Kim Ki-tae are set to take the stage.
The MCT Festival blends culture and technology, layering K-culture onto the identity of the Magok Industrial Complex, home to a cluster of cutting-edge companies.
The festival runs through Sunday across the Magok area. Jin is expected to return to the grounds on the final day.
"The MCT Festival, where culture and technology come together, aligns with the vision of Magok as a city of the future," Jin said. "I hope everyone will come out with family, friends and loved ones to enjoy the diverse programs and create special memories."
