Uiseong-gun in North Gyeongsang Province will distribute 31.2 billion won (about $20.5 million) in livelihood support funds to help residents cope with economic hardship amid a prolonged slump and sluggish consumer spending.

A total of 29,588 applications were submitted during the filing period, according to Uiseong-gun. After reviewing eligibility and screening for duplicate claims, the county confirmed 27,512 cases as final recipients.

The funds will be loaded in a lump sum onto the Uiseong Love Card accounts designated by applicants on Saturday.

Those excluded from the payout, whose applications were placed on hold, or who dispute the amount they received may file additional applications or appeals from Monday through June 30.

Applications must be submitted at the township or village office with jurisdiction over the applicant's registered address. Those confirmed as eligible following review will receive payment the following day.

"I hope this livelihood support fund provides at least some relief to residents struggling with high prices and the economic downturn," county chief Kim Ju-su said. "We will focus our administrative resources on ensuring the funds are disbursed swiftly so they can serve as a catalyst for the recovery of the local economy."
