City dispatches 'Wonju Excellent Products Market Pioneer Corps'
Wonju city is dispatching its "Wonju Excellent Products Market Pioneer Corps" to Ho Chi Minh City — Vietnam's economic hub — from Monday through June 19 to help local small and medium-sized enterprises break into the Southeast Asian market.
Twelve Wonju-based small and medium-sized enterprises will take part in the mission, which aims to diversify export markets amid global instability and uncertainty in logistics. Participating companies will hold one-on-one export consultations with local buyers and conduct market research on the ground.
The city plans to identify high-purchasing-power buyers through advance market assessments and provide full support throughout the consultation process, including interpretation services.
The city will also cover part of the sample shipping costs for participating companies to ease their financial burden.
Products that perform well during the consultations will receive follow-up support in the second half of the year, including placement with local retailers and marketing assistance, to help companies establish a stable foothold in the Vietnamese market.
"We hope this market pioneer corps will serve as an important springboard for local companies to enter the Vietnamese market and expand their exports," a Wonju city official said. "We will continue to actively support small and medium-sized enterprises in our area as they seek to open new overseas markets."
