New integrated login portal aims to cut unnecessary administrative burden on researchers and improve navigation across national R&D systems

South Korea is moving to significantly reduce the administrative burden on researchers with a new system reform.

The Ministry of Science and ICT on Monday launched Research24, an integrated single-login portal that lets researchers access 10 major R&D support systems operated by six institutions from one place.

Until now, researchers who regularly used the 10 national R&D sites had to visit each one separately and enter individual usernames and passwords every time they logged in.

With Research24, a single login through SSO (Single Sign-On) technology grants access to all connected sites without additional authentication.

Research24 supports multiple login methods, including simple authentication, joint certificates, financial certificates and mobile ID. Users who sign in through the government's integrated authentication service — operated by the Ministry of Interior and Safety and covering private platform IDs such as Naver, Kakao and Payco — can use the portal without creating a separate account.

Once logged in, users see a dashboard listing all 10 national R&D sites. Selecting any site opens it in a new tab with no additional login required.

Park In-gyu, head of the Science and Technology Innovation Division at the Ministry of Science and ICT, said the ministry would continue strengthening information-sharing links with R&D institutions and consolidating fragmented research support systems to build a more convenient national R&D environment for researchers.
