US Vice President JD Vance said he plans to attend the signing ceremony for the US-Iran peace negotiations in Switzerland on Friday, adding that the door remains open for President Donald Trump to attend in person as well.

Speaking to Fox News by phone Sunday, Vance was asked about attendance at the signing ceremony. "The details of who will be at the signing ceremony are still being worked out," he said. "I'm definitely planning to be there, but it's also possible that the president attends himself."

The United States and Iran announced Sunday that a peace agreement had been reached, with a formal signing ceremony set for Friday in Switzerland. Trump and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif — whose country served as mediator — each posted the announcement on social media, and Iran's Foreign Ministry confirmed it had agreed to a memorandum of understanding to end the conflict.

Should Trump attend the signing ceremony, he would likely return to Washington after the Group of Seven summit in France, which runs from Monday through Wednesday, before traveling on to Switzerland for the event.
