The Andong English Village at Gyeongkuk National University has concluded its "AEV Career Day" secondary school program, which ran from May 6 to June 4.

A total of 287 students from 12 middle schools in the Andong area took part in the program.

The Andong English Village will next host the two-night, three-day "Dream Camp" for out-of-school youth, running June 16-18. Open to out-of-school youth from second-year middle school students through third-year high school students, the camp will be held at the Andong English Village facilities on the Gyeongkuk National University campus. Participation is free of charge.

All classes will be conducted entirely in English with native-speaking instructors and run in small groups to maximize learning outcomes.

The program begins on the first day with a face-to-face interview with a native-speaking instructor, followed by customized lessons using in-house developed teaching materials.

Kim Young-hoon, director of the university's lifelong education center, said the camp has been prepared with the same care and expertise that made the secondary school program a success. "We hope this will serve as a stepping stone for out-of-school youth to overcome their fear of English and broaden their dreams toward a wider world," he said.
