The dental hygiene department of Keimyung College held its second pre-dental hygienist pledge ceremony June 11 at Dongsan Hall in the university's health building.

The ceremony was held for 21 second-year students enrolled in the dental hygiene program.

Attendees included Keimyung College President Park Seung-ho, senior faculty members, department chair Lee Eun-ju and the dental hygiene faculty, first- and third-year students, Daegu Dental Association President Heo Yeong-ju, Korean Dental Hygienists Association Daegu-North Gyeongsang Chapter President Oh Mi-jeong, Loyis Deokyeong Dental Hospital Director Park Jun-hong, and representatives from MegaGen Implant.

The ceremony opened with remarks by department chair Lee, followed by a pin presentation and candlelight ritual, the pre-dental hygienist pledge, the Hu-Friedy Award presentation, and the conferral of commendations and scholarships.

"We will do our best to provide hands-on education and systematic student support so that our students can grow into dental hygienists with both professional expertise and strong character," Lee said.

President Park congratulated the students on their new beginning, noting they were making their first commitment as pre-dental hygienists ahead of clinical fieldwork. "I hope you grow into dental hygienists who convey warmth and trust," he added.
