As Hollywood star Brad Pitt, 62, continues his romance with Ines de Ramon, 33 — 29 years his junior — the children he shares with ex-wife Angelina Jolie have been quietly dropping his surname through legal name changes.
According to entertainment outlet Page Six, a source said Pitt's son Knox, 17, used the name "Knox Jolie" on his graduation certificate when he finished school earlier this month.
Pitt and Jolie married in 2014 and divorced in 2019. The former couple have six children together — three adopted and three biological. Knox is the youngest of the biological children.
Eldest son Maddox, 25, and daughter Shiloh, 20, had also previously dropped "Pitt" from their names.
"Angelina Jolie seems very pleased that her long effort to distance the children from their father has been completely successful," one source said. "The name changes were her goal, and she succeeded."
A separate source said the children's decision to distance themselves from Pitt stemmed from pain and hurt they experienced at the time. "Angelina Jolie and the children spent years in family therapy to heal from the incident that led to the divorce proceedings," the source said. "The reason Brad Pitt is not close to his children is because he hurt them. He was not honest about his actions, and that affected the trust between them. The children suffered greatly. No one but the children themselves knows how deep that pain was."
Meanwhile, Pitt was recently spotted on a date in Paris with de Ramon. The couple was seen being affectionate in the stands during the women's singles final of the 2026 French Open.
Their relationship first became public in late 2022, when they were spotted together at a concert in Los Angeles. They have been seen together publicly ever since.
De Ramon is a jewelry designer and entrepreneur who studied business administration at the University of Geneva in Switzerland before building a career in the jewelry industry. She currently serves as an executive at global jewelry brand Anita Ko and speaks five languages — French, English, German, Spanish and Italian. She was married to American actor Paul Wesley from 2018 until their divorce in 2022.
