Actor Choi Kang-hee, 49, has opened up about the loneliness of never having married or found a lasting relationship.

Choi launched a YouTube channel called "I Learned Love Through Movies" and posted her first video, titled "I Want to Love: The Story Choi Kang-hee Tells for the First Time."

In the video, she said she has no objection to marriage. "I'm not someone who is against marriage — I want to love, and I want to love well," she said. "My dream in high school was to be a devoted wife and mother."

Reflecting on her past relationships, Choi said she had dated consistently but always carried doubts about permanence. "I always loved the other person deeply," she said. "Still, I never felt certain that love wouldn't change. I was more drawn to anxious types than stable ones — I liked people who had something missing. I think I felt I needed a role to play, something I could fill for them."

She said there had been a time when she wanted to marry but the relationship ended before that could happen. "After that, I started thinking — maybe it's just not possible for me," she said.

She also spoke about watching younger colleagues move on with their lives. "Friends who are much younger than me have all gotten married," she said. "The next time I see them, they show up with a wife. The time after that, they show up with a baby. When I see that, I feel envious."

Born in 1977 and approaching 50, Choi said even meeting someone has become a challenge. "Where are they, and how do you meet people — how do you even start dating?" she said. "When you're young, everyone is at the same stage and you just fall for each other. But now, how does it work?"

Choi said she has often been told she lives inside movies, and that the new channel would lean into that. "Since I'm already doing a film program, I'm going to try learning about love through movies," she said, outlining her plans for the channel.
