Applicants with transit permits told to await further PGSA guidance

The Persian Gulf Strait Authority (PGSA), a body established by the Iranian government, announced Thursday local time that it was closing the Strait of Hormuz indefinitely.

"Due to escalating tensions caused by aggressive US military actions and recent announcements by the Iranian armed forces, the Strait of Hormuz is fully closed until further notice," the PGSA said in a post on X. "Applicants who have received transit permits should wait — further guidance from the PGSA will follow."

Earlier, Iran's armed forces had warned that "any vessel attempting to transit the Strait of Hormuz will be a target for fire," in response to US strikes on Iran.

Iran's state-run Nour News also reported Thursday that Iranian forces had opened fire on US vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.
