Apartment prices in Gwangju continue to fall, posting the steepest decline among all 17 metropolitan and provincial governments nationwide.

According to the Korea Real Estate Board, Gwangju's apartment sale price index fell 0.09 percent in the second week of this month.

The index has declined for six consecutive weeks, dropping 0.15 percent, 0.16 percent, 0.16 percent, 0.10 percent, 0.11 percent and 0.09 percent over that stretch. Cumulatively, the Gwangju apartment sale price index has fallen 1.37 percent this year through the second week of June.

The trend contrasts with the national average sale price index, which rose 1.35 percent over the same period, and the provincial average, which gained 0.17 percent. Gwangju's apartment jeonse price index, meanwhile, rose a cumulative 0.29 percent this year through the second week of June.
