Next-generation all-electric flagship model
Latest SPA2 architecture and SDV strategy at its core
Strategic pricing targets Korean market
Volvo Car Korea announced Thursday that pre-orders for its next-generation all-electric flagship sedan, the ES90, are now open at 39 official Volvo showrooms nationwide.
The ES90 was developed on Volvo's latest SPA2 architecture and software-defined vehicle (SDV) strategy, reimagining the traditional sedan form for the era of electrification.
The model made its global debut in March last year and recently had its Korean unveiling at a "Sweden Day" event.
The ES90 will be offered in Korea in three powertrain configurations — single motor extended range, twin motor and twin motor performance — catering to a range of lifestyles and driving conditions. Built on an 800V electrical system, the vehicle can travel up to 706 kilometers on a single charge under the WLTP standard.
The ES90 also features an advanced core computing system and supports over-the-air (OTA) software updates, allowing continuous improvements to vehicle functions and performance. Next-generation Google infotainment comes standard, and 5G connectivity delivers intuitive, on-demand information through a 9-inch driver display and a head-up display.
The starting price in Korea is set in the mid-70 million won range (approximately $46,000) for the single motor extended range variant, with the twin motor variant priced in the high-70 million won range. Full trim details and pricing will be announced at the domestic launch on July 22.
"The ES90 is a new class of flagship electric vehicle that brings together Volvo's long-accumulated safety philosophy, human-centered values and the finest technology," said Lee Yun-mo, president of Volvo Car Korea. "Please look forward to July 22, when detailed information and pricing for the ES90 will be revealed."
