Lee Jae to perform World Cup anthem 'DNA' at opening ceremony alongside Andrea Bocelli

Singer Lee Jae, known for performing "Golden" from the Netflix animated series "K-Pop Demon Hunters," will take the stage at the 2026 FIFA World Cup opening ceremony alongside legendary tenor Andrea Bocelli, performing the tournament's official anthem, "DNA."

FIFA announced Wednesday on its website that "maestro Andrea Bocelli, David Guetta, Megan Thee Stallion and Lee Jae have united on the official anthem 'DNA,'" releasing the track on YouTube and other platforms.

Lee Jae and Bocelli are set to perform the song for the first time at the World Cup opening ceremony in Mexico City on Thursday.

FIFA said the release of "DNA" marks "a historic musical moment for the tournament," bringing together legendary tenor Andrea Bocelli, globally renowned DJ and producer David Guetta, three-time Grammy Award-winning superstar Megan Thee Stallion, and Academy Award-, Grammy Award- and Golden Globe-winning singer-songwriter Lee Jae.

FIFA described "DNA" as a song uniting artists of worldwide influence to convey the spirit and emotion of the World Cup, saying it "captures the essence of a World Cup that for the first time will see 48 teams compete across 16 host cities in three countries."

FIFA also said the anthem delivers "a moment when the noise of the stadium fades and the crowd becomes one — celebrating the true meaning of football, a value that goes beyond the game itself."

Bocelli shared on his social media how he first crossed paths with Lee Jae. "We first met last year in the United States through Snoop Dogg at an NFL halftime show, and now we meet again in Mexico through the FIFA official anthem," he wrote.

"When music binds together stories, cultures and worlds that are far apart, something truly special is born — and that is the most beautiful thing in the world," Bocelli said. "See you at the opening ceremony. It's not just a game — it's our DNA."
