Assembly Division's Sangsaeng Nuri Team and SEE-BAD, Quality Management Division's Jung Eun-hae and Ahn Gyeong-in group leaders all honored
Gwangju Global Motors swept the 2026 Gwangju Quality Circle Competition, with all four of its participating teams taking home excellence awards.
GGM announced Wednesday that all four of its teams won mid-sized enterprise excellence awards at the competition held Tuesday at the third floor of the Kim Dae-jung Convention Center, where 14 teams from local public institutions, large corporations and mid-sized companies competed by presenting quality innovation case studies.
The four GGM teams each presented proposals for safety and quality improvements on the factory floor. The Assembly Division's Sangsaeng Nuri Team (Sub-B) presented a case on reducing workplace hazards through improvements to the door assembly process, while the Assembly Division's SEE-BAD team (Sub-C) addressed reducing the defect rate through cockpit process improvements. From the Quality Management Division, group leader Jung Eun-hae presented on boosting operation rates through inspection line process improvements, and group leader Ahn Gyeong-in focused on reducing workplace risk through improvements to aperture gauge installation.
All four teams received high marks from the judges, earning mid-sized enterprise excellence awards.
The four winning GGM teams will represent Gwangju at the 52nd National Quality Innovation Competition, to be held in North Jeolla Province on Aug. 24, alongside other award winners including Korea Electric Power Data Network's "Perfect-Q" circle, which took the top prize.
The judging panel included Choi Seung-il, a professor at Gongju National University and panel chair; Jeong Yeong-seon, a professor at Chonnam National University; Heo O-jeong, a national quality master at Hanwha Total Energies; and Jang Gyu-pyo and Heo Won-seok, both specialists at the Korean Standards Association.
GGM attributed the strong showing to its sustained commitment to quality, including overseas training programs for employees at automakers such as Japan's Toyota and ongoing job training aimed at raising quality standards. The company has also earned ISO 9001 quality management system certification and a quality management award, reflecting its quality-first approach to management.
Also at the event, GGM Quality Management Division manager Jo Jae-yeong was named an outstanding contributor to quality management innovation and received a commendation from the Gwangju mayor.
"This is the result of our team members consistently preparing through various training sessions and guidance, including Gwangju's quality circle workshops," a GGM quality official said. "In particular, the active interest and support from company executives helped all four teams advance to the national competition."
