'Congratulations on becoming the longest-serving prime minister of the world's largest democracy'

President Lee Jae Myung, currently on a European tour, congratulated Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday for becoming the longest-serving elected prime minister in India's history.

In a post on X, formerly Twitter, Lee said Modi had "long led India's growth and development and played an important role in raising India's standing in the international community," adding that the achievement reflected "the trust of the Indian people in your leadership."

Lee then recalled that the two countries had agreed in April to further advance their Special Strategic Partnership and build a shared future of growth and innovation. "I hope we can continue to build trust and friendship together and deliver tangible results that the people of both countries can feel," he said.

Lee went on to wish Modi good health and the Indian people happiness and prosperity.

Modi first took office in May 2014 and secured a third consecutive term in the 2024 general election, becoming the longest-serving elected prime minister in Indian history.
