Actor Lee Yu-bi has revealed she was injured on set during a drama shoot.
A video titled "Answering Carrot Friends' Questions — Cooking Mukbang Q&A" was recently posted to her YouTube channel.
In the video, Lee answered fan questions and shared a behind-the-scenes story from a past drama production.
Responding to a fan curious about behind-the-scenes moments from the SBS drama series "The Escape of the Seven," in which she played Han Mo-ne, Lee said, "The shoot ran for two years, so there's no end to the behind-the-scenes stories."
"Early on, there was a scene we filmed in a cactus field on Jeju Island," she recalled. "It was a scene where Han Mo-ne hallucinates and goes wild, and it was really dark because we were shooting at night."
Lee said the crew had repeatedly warned her to be careful, explaining that the cactus spines were so small that getting one embedded in her skin would mean a trip to the hospital.
"But while filming an action scene where I fall backward after hallucinating, I happened to fall right on my backside," she said. "Not my arms or legs — I got 200 cactus spines stuck in my backside."
"There was no time to pull them all out before my next scene," she said. "So I ended up pulling one out, filming, then repeating that over and over." She added that she would duck into the nearby woods between takes to remove the spines.
She also said that in the chaos of rushing between the set and the woods, she startled a crew member. "It was so dark that I couldn't see, and I ended up exposing my backside right in front of a staff member," Lee said. "I sincerely apologized." She said the cycle of filming and spine removal continued through the night.
