Girls' Generation member Sooyoung, 36, whose full name is Choi Soo-young, and actor Jung Kyung-ho, 42, have broken up after 14 years together.
Sooyoung's agency confirmed Tuesday that the two had recently parted ways and agreed to remain on good terms as colleagues.
The couple grew apart as each pursued separate career activities, leading them to end the relationship.
Speculation about a breakup had surfaced after fans noticed the two had unfollowed each other on social media, and the reports were confirmed Tuesday.
Sooyoung and Jung Kyung-ho had been one of the entertainment industry's longest-running couples since they began dating in 2012. Both are alumni of Chung-Ang University's theater and film department and are said to have first met at church before their relationship developed romantically.
Sooyoung debuted with Girls' Generation in 2007 and became one of the defining faces of the second generation of K-pop girl groups, placing her at the center of the hallyu wave. In recent years she has expanded into acting, appearing in drama series including "Squad 38," "The Man Who Sets the Table," "Run On" and "Nam Nam."
Jung Kyung-ho made his debut in 2003 as a KBS 20th-class talent recruit and rose to leading-man status through drama series including "Hospital Playlist" and "One Top Scandal."
