Bazaar at Jung-gu District Office on Thursday and Friday features brand-name products discounted up to 80%, with proceeds donated to support low-income residents ahead of the summer heat wave
Seoul's Jung-gu, led by District Mayor Kim Gil-sung, will co-host a "Sharing Bazaar" with Hyundai Outlet Dongdaemun on Thursday and Friday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day, in the first-floor lobby and outdoor space of the district office's main building.
The event is organized through a public-private partnership drawing on corporate social responsibility resources, with proceeds going toward support for vulnerable residents ahead of the coming summer heat wave.
The bazaar will offer products from seven brands — including Tommy Hilfiger, She's Miss, Nepa and Crocs — at discounts of up to 80%. Sales proceeds will be donated to the Community Chest of Korea.
Beyond the discount sale, a variety of food booths will be on hand. "Yakhyeon," a traditional liquor cultural platform operated as a senior employment project by Jungnim Community Welfare Center, will offer tastings and sales.
"Mogumogugwajacheom in Sindang" and "Loiter Bread Garden," both returning from last year, will sell baked goods and donate all proceeds to the cause.
A donation event open to all visitors will also run throughout the bazaar. Anyone who donates 10,000 won or more through a "donation kiosk" — accepting credit cards and mobile payment — will receive a voucher for either a personal color consultation or a fun fortune-telling and career coaching session. Vouchers are available while supplies last.
Hyundai Outlet Dongdaemun, the event's corporate partner, has donated more than 14 million won ($10,100) to date and previously participated in the "Hope Ondol Warm Winter" charity bazaar, maintaining a consistent record of community giving. In April, the outlet signed an MOU with Jung-gu to provide disaster relief supplies in the event of an emergency, further deepening the partnership.
"I hope this bazaar, made possible through public-private cooperation, will provide real help to neighbors who are most vulnerable to the heat," District Mayor Kim said. "We will continue to do our utmost to ensure no resident is left behind as we support everyone through a safe summer."
