Event features citizen kickboxing experience program alongside competitive bouts
Kim Yong-ho, vice chairman of the Seoul Metropolitan Council's Urban Safety and Construction Committee (People Power Party, Yongsan 1), chaired the 2026 K-Kickboxing and Muay Thai Competition at the track field of Ichon Hangang Park on Saturday, with the event concluding to a strong turnout.
Held for the first time this year as part of the Seoul Metropolitan Sports Council's lifestyle sports support project for civic organizations, the competition drew domestic and international tourists as well as local residents visiting Ichon Hangang Park over the weekend.
Six teams affiliated with the Korea Kickboxing Association competed in bouts held in a specially erected ring, while a hands-on kickboxing experience program was also offered to the public.
Kim commended the athletes, coaches and other participants for their efforts, saying he hoped "kickboxing will continue to grow and become a lifestyle sport loved by many citizens."
