Comedian Shin Bong-sun has revealed that she still holds onto all the gold prizes she received during her early broadcasting career and at awards ceremonies, never having sold a single piece.
In a video posted to her YouTube channel, Shin was looking back at plaques from past appearances when she said, "When I was a rookie, quiz shows used to give out golden keys as prizes — I haven't sold a single one. I have several keys at home."
She then showed viewers the gold items she has kept at home, walking through a collection that included golden keys she received for appearing on entertainment programs "Brain King Einstein," "Quiz! Six Senses Showdown" and "Economic Vitamins." She also displayed gold medals she won at the 2015 MBC Broadcasting Entertainment Awards, where she took home the rookie prize and a special award, and at the 2021 MBC Broadcasting Entertainment Awards.
"Back then, people were so generous," Shin said. "Anyway, I've been keeping them all safe."
When Shin made her debut in 2005, the market price of gold was around 60,000 won per don (3.75 grams). It has since surged past 800,000 won.
