The partnership is expected to sharpen the competitiveness of Doosan's core businesses — energy, robotics and electronic materials — by integrating Nvidia's AI platform across those operations.
Park Jung-won: Nvidia tie-up will help Doosan seize AI factory opportunities
Doosan announced Monday that it will expand cooperation with Nvidia across its core businesses, including energy, electronic materials and robotics.
The collaboration is grounded in the close alignment between Doosan's key operations — intelligent robotics, energy solutions and high-performance electronic materials — and the AI factory ecosystem Nvidia is building. The two companies plan to deepen ties with the shared goal of connecting Doosan's products, technologies and manufacturing capabilities to Nvidia's accelerated computing and physical AI platforms.
Doosan Group Chairman Park Jung-won and Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang discussed the details of the partnership during a private meeting at Jamsil Baseball Stadium in Seoul on Sunday. Huang threw the ceremonial first pitch at the Doosan Bears home game held that day, while Park took the ceremonial first swing.
"Doosan Group has been continuously advancing the technologies needed for the AI era in energy, robotics and advanced materials, drawing on manufacturing capabilities built up over many decades," Park said. "As we enter the age of AI factories, this collaboration with Nvidia will be a great help in applying AI across our business areas and identifying new business opportunities."
Huang said South Korea, as a world-class manufacturing hub, stands to gain significantly from physical AI. "For companies that build, move and power the world, physical AI will open new growth opportunities," he said. He added that by combining Nvidia's DSX — its AI factory design architecture — and physical AI with Doosan's energy, robotics and advanced materials businesses, "Doosan Group will be able to secure new growth engines in areas central to the AI era, including intelligent robots, autonomous industrial equipment and next-generation infrastructure."
Nvidia technology to be layered onto Doosan's core businesses
Through the partnership, Doosan's range of energy solutions — including Doosan Enerbility's gas turbines and small modular reactors and Doosan Fuel Cell's hydrogen fuel cells — are expected to be incorporated into Nvidia's DSX platform. The two companies plan to expand cooperation on power supply design for AI factory construction, optimization of power generation equipment and the pursuit of low-carbon energy sources.
Doosan Robotics is developing an agentic robot operating system using Nvidia's open libraries and other resources, and the two sides are in discussions on jointly developing reference robot solutions capable of handling complex industrial tasks. Their collaboration will focus on enabling robots to independently perceive, assess and respond to their working environments with precision.
Doosan also plans to broaden its robotics cooperation by integrating Nvidia's physical AI technologies into Doosan Bobcat's construction, landscaping, agricultural and logistics equipment, while accelerating the development of models tailored to industrial environments. The aim is to enable equipment to autonomously recognize diverse working conditions, assess situations and carry out tasks independently.
Doosan's Electronics Business Group is exploring collaboration opportunities to support next-generation AI data center infrastructure, including Nvidia's MGX platform for modular server design. The group's copper-clad laminate, or CCL, is a key material for the printed circuit boards used in Nvidia's AI infrastructure. To expand CCL production, Doosan is building a new manufacturing base in Thailand, targeting mass production by 2028.
