Taipei 'Gaming OLED Road Show' features 39-inch 5K2K gaming OLED and mass-production RGB stripe OLED panels

LG Display is accelerating its push into the global gaming monitor market by unveiling a next-generation gaming OLED technology roadmap and new product lineup. The strategy centers on high-resolution and ultra-high refresh rate technology to strengthen its lead in the premium OLED segment.

The company announced Friday that it had presented its differentiated gaming OLED technologies and future roadmap to global IT set makers at the "Gaming OLED Road Show" held in Taipei, Taiwan, on Thursday. About 20 global customers, including LG Electronics, attended the event to see the technology firsthand and discuss areas of cooperation.

The company's top-tier gaming OLED lineup was on display at the event. LG Display showcased a 39-inch 5K2K gaming OLED panel combining a 21:9 ultra-wide aspect ratio with a 1500R curvature for an immersive gaming experience. LG Display is currently the only manufacturer mass-producing 39-inch 21:9 OLED panels. The company also plans to introduce a 21:9 panel for a 45-inch product using its proprietary "Primary RGB Tandem" technology.

Also on display was an RGB stripe OLED panel that entered mass production this month as a world first. The RGB stripe structure enhances text sharpness and color reproduction, delivering superior image quality for gaming and document work alike.

LG Display also unveiled its Black Frame Insertion (BFI) technology for the first time at the event. The technology inserts brief black frames between video frames to reduce motion blur, enabling sharp visuals comparable to those at high refresh rates even at relatively lower refresh rates. The company expects BFI to improve perceived performance in esports and first-person shooter games without requiring a high-end graphics card.

LG Display also presented a roadmap for DFR 2.0 (Dynamic Frequency & Resolution), its next-generation gaming OLED technology. DFR allows seamless switching between high-resolution and high-refresh-rate modes depending on the content. The next-generation version will support switching between UHD 240Hz and FHD 960Hz, as well as between QHD 540Hz and HD 1000Hz, with the goal of achieving a 1000Hz refresh rate — a first for any OLED panel.
