ZEROBASEONE member Park Geon-wook has apologized over allegations that he manipulated the winning number at a fan sign event.
Park posted a lengthy message Friday on a fan communication platform, saying he wanted to offer "a sincere apology" for his conduct at a recent fan sign event.
"At the time, I should have exercised more careful judgment and acted accordingly, but I failed to do so," he wrote. "I take it very seriously that my actions caused confusion and hurt to many people. I sincerely apologize to those who were confused and hurt by my shortcomings."
He went on to express regret toward fans and colleagues alike. "Even though I have always cherished the support you give me, I am sorry for not showing you a side of me worthy of that support. I will not take this lightly and will reflect on it sincerely," he said. "I am sorry for disappointing the Zeroz — who cheered on and believed in us during this album cycle — again. I also want to apologize to our ZEROBASEONE members and the staff who work so hard alongside us."
The controversy began after a video circulated on social media showing Park announcing number 10 as the winning ticket in a raffle for a signed Polaroid photo at a recent fan sign event.
Fans who attended subsequently posted photos showing that the back of the winning slip bore the number 9, not 10, prompting accusations that Park had manipulated the result to benefit a specific attendee.
Park made his debut as a member of ZEROBASEONE, a group formed through Mnet's survival program "Boys Planet," which aired in 2023. The group's contract period wrapped up following a concert in March, after which the lineup was restructured to five members — Park Geon-wook, Seok Matthew, Kim Tae-rae, Sung Han-bin and Kim Ji-woong. The five returned last month with their sixth mini album.
