Centre Pompidou Hanwha in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, is hosting its inaugural exhibition, "Cubists: Innovators of Vision," through Oct. 4. The show is the first project under the partnership between the Hanwha Culture Foundation and Centre Pompidou, tracing the formation and development of Cubism across roughly two decades, from 1907 to 1927.
The exhibition presents 91 works from the Centre Pompidou collection — including pieces by Pablo Picasso, Georges Braque and Juan Gris — examining how Cubism reshaped the course of modern art. A special section on Korean modern and contemporary art illuminates Paris's influence on the Korean art world and how the avant-garde movements that followed Cubism were received in Korea.
