Samsung Electronics topped global TV market sales in the first quarter, putting the company on course for a 21st consecutive year as the world's No. 1 TV maker.

According to market research firm Omdia, Samsung held a 31.3% revenue share in the global TV market in the first quarter — up 1.3 percentage points from a year earlier — more than doubling the share of second-place LG Electronics.

Samsung also led the premium TV segment, capturing a 53.4% revenue share among sets priced at $2,500 or above and a 50.1% share in the $1,500-and-above tier.

In the extra-large TV segment — sets 75 inches and above — Samsung secured a 31.6% revenue share to claim the top spot. Strong sales of 98-inch and 100-inch models helped the company reach a 29.7% share in the 80-inch-and-above category as well.

Samsung continued to grow in the OLED TV market, reaching a 40.1% revenue share in the first quarter. In North America, its OLED share reached 46.1%, placing it first in the region.

OLED TV unit sales rose 28.8% year on year. Since its 2022 launch, Samsung's OLED lineup has consistently expanded, surpassing cumulative sales of 5 million units.

At CES 2026 in Las Vegas in January, Samsung declared this year the dawn of a new era for AI TVs — one that brings "joy and comfort to customers' everyday lives." The company has embedded AI features not only in its premium Micro RGB, OLED and Neo QLED lineups but also in newly launched mid-range Mini LED and UHD models.

The integrated AI platform "Vision AI Companion" delivers AI-powered insights, optimized answers and real-time information to users.

While watching TV, users can search for content-related information or look up facts instantly using only voice commands. Asking "Where was this movie filmed?" or "What is the South Korean national team's record?" prompts Vision AI Companion to provide the relevant information on the spot.

This year's new TV models also feature "AI Football Mode Pro," which uses AI to analyze soccer match footage in real time, rendering vivid picture quality and capturing even the subtlest movement of the ball.

The sets also include "AI Sound Control Pro," which analyzes dialogue, background music and sound effects in real time and automatically optimizes the audio mix to deepen content immersion.

Samsung's 2026 Micro RGB and OLED TV models have drawn a string of favorable reviews from major technology publications in the United Kingdom and the United States.
