People Power Party candidate Kwon Oh-sang won the Seo-gu district mayoral race in Daegu in Wednesday's nationwide local elections.

Speaking Thursday after his victory, Kwon said the result was not a personal endorsement but "a stern mandate from residents to revive Seo-gu and create new hope," adding that he would "take that message to heart with a deep sense of responsibility."

He said he would repay voters "with action over words and results over promises," and pledged to be "a district mayor who listens to residents first, on the ground."

Kwon said he would push ahead with sub-center development around Seodaegu Station to create a new engine of growth for the district. "I will ensure Seodaegu Station becomes more than a transportation hub — a central axis of regional development where the economy, culture and people converge," he said.
