Kim Dae-kwon has been elected district chief of Suseong-gu in Daegu in the ninth nationwide simultaneous local elections.
In a victory statement Thursday, Kim expressed deep gratitude to residents for giving him another opportunity to serve. "I sincerely thank the campaign workers and volunteers who worked alongside me throughout the election," he said.
He pledged to transform Suseong-gu into a destination that draws people through culture, keeps them through education and creates jobs through future industries.
Kim also extended words of consolation and thanks to rival candidate Park Jeong-kwon. "I ask that we join forces for the development of Suseong-gu," he said.
Kim said he would faithfully reflect the opinions and advice he heard on the campaign trail. "I will open a new future for Happy Suseong — a city that becomes a destination people seek out," he said.
