Choi Yu-cheol has been elected county chief of Uiseong-gun in the 9th nationwide simultaneous local elections.

In his victory statement Thursday, Choi said the public's trust placed in him represented "not authority, but responsibility and duty," pledging to build "a prosperous Uiseong through a well-prepared county administration."

"Facing today's result, I think of responsibility before joy," he said. "I take the people's choice as a call to look closely at the realities of Uiseong and lead the county administration with greater stability."

Choi also outlined an economic vision centered on a new integrated airport, saying he would link air logistics, industrial complexes, a regional transportation network and agricultural export infrastructure to develop Uiseong into "a new hub for transportation, logistics and agriculture."

"I will run a county administration for all residents," he said. "I promise a people-centered government, responsible fiscal management, and a clean and upright administration — an Uiseong where the elderly live comfortably, youth return, and farmers thrive."
