Grand opening ceremony held June 2; new wing features university hospital-grade operating rooms and imaging center

Dongrae Bongsheng Hospital announced Thursday that it held a grand opening ceremony for its new Future Wing on June 2, coinciding with the hospital's 36th anniversary celebration.

The event, held at the hospital in Annak-dong, Dongnae-gu, Busan, was themed "A New Space, a Leap into the Future" and drew senior guests, hospital staff, medical professionals and local residents. A charity music concert featuring jazz and classical performances also took place that day.

The Future Wing spans 12,396 square meters (3,750 pyeong; 1 pyeong equals 3.3 square meters) and houses university hospital-grade operating rooms, a smart patient-management ward, and a radiology center equipped with state-of-the-art MRI and CT scanners. Covered walkways connecting the new wing to the existing main building were built across three floors to maximize movement efficiency for patients, caregivers and medical staff. The facility also includes a modern parking tower and patient-centered treatment and rest areas.

"I extend my deepest gratitude to the hospital staff, associates and local residents who dedicated themselves for years to the construction and opening of the Future Wing," said hospital director Jo Mi-young. "With this opening, we will do our utmost — built on trust — to protect the health and lives of residents not only in Dongnae-gu but across Busan and South Gyeongsang Province."

Dongrae Bongsheng Hospital was founded in 1990 by Jung Eui-hwa, who later served as speaker of the 19th National Assembly. With the Future Wing now open, the hospital comprises six buildings with a total floor area of 8,700 pyeong and 299 beds equipped with the latest facilities, positioning it as a leading regional hospital serving eastern Busan and South Gyeongsang Province.
