Woo Sang-ho, the newly elected governor of Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province, held a dissolution ceremony for his election campaign committee Thursday morning at Boram Tower on Anmasan-ro in Chuncheon.
He then paid his respects at Chungnyeoltap, a war memorial in Chuncheon's Udu-dong, at 2:30 p.m., before receiving his official certificate of election from the Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province Election Commission at 3 p.m.
Woo's four-year term as governor — the ninth directly elected term under local autonomy — begins July 1.
After his victory was confirmed, Woo said he viewed the win as a mandate for continued effort rather than a cause for complacency. "I see this election as a call to never grow arrogant and to keep running hard for Gangwon Province until the very end," he said. "I will work to fulfill my promises so that residents can say they made the right choice."
He added that the weight of the work ahead felt heavier than the joy of winning. "Honestly, the sense of responsibility for what I must do going forward feels greater than the happiness of being elected," he said. "I intend to reach people more broadly, more deeply and more often." He named reviving and reinvigorating the Gangwon economy as his top priority.
