People Power Party candidate Jeon Sung-soo won reelection as Seocho-gu district mayor in Wednesday's 9th National Simultaneous Local Elections, posting the highest vote share of any district mayor elected in Seoul. Seocho-gu also recorded the highest voter turnout among Seoul's 25 autonomous districts.

According to the National Election Commission, with all ballots counted, Jeon secured 153,317 votes — 66.40 percent of the total — defeating Democratic Party of Korea candidate Hwang In-sik, who received 77,572 votes, or 33.59 percent. The margin between the two candidates was 32.81 percentage points, and Jeon's vote share was the highest among all 25 Seoul district mayor winners.

Seocho-gu's voter turnout of 66.3 percent ranked first among Seoul's 25 autonomous districts. The district also led the capital in turnout during the 8th local elections in 2022, when it recorded 56.0 percent.

This year's turnout was up 10.3 percentage points from four years ago and surpassed the 66.2 percent recorded in the district's first local election in 1995 by 0.8 percentage points — the highest turnout Seocho-gu has ever posted in a local election.
