SpaceX is pursuing an initial public offering that would value the US aerospace company at $1.75 trillion (about 2,667 trillion won), a listing that would set a new record as the largest IPO in US stock market history.
The Wall Street Journal reported Monday, local time, that SpaceX plans to file a registration statement with regulators soon, disclosing details including its offering price.
According to Reuters, SpaceX is working to set its offering price at $135 per share — an unusual approach. Companies going public typically present a preliminary price range first, then finalize the price after gauging demand from institutional investors. Locking in a specific figure before the investor roadshow is considered unconventional.
SpaceX plans to sell a 4.3 percent stake to raise $75 billion (about 114.7 trillion won). The company was previously valued at around $1.25 trillion after acquiring AI firm xAI earlier this year.
The company plans to hold an investor roadshow in New York later this week to formally kick off its fundraising process. Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley are serving as lead underwriters.
Goldman Sachs will handle share allocation and subscription fund management, while Morgan Stanley will act as the stabilization agent to limit share price volatility on the first day of trading.
SpaceX is expected to begin trading on the Nasdaq under the ticker symbol "SPCX" on June 12.
