13 water feature facilities including fountains and waterfalls; 5 wading pools also opening this month

Seoul's Yangcheon-gu will begin operating 18 water facilities across the district this month, giving residents a place to cool off close to home during the summer heat, the district office announced Sunday.

The facilities include 11 floor and general fountains, five wading pools, one pond and waterwheel, and one waterfall.

The five wading pools for children will open in stages this month at Anyangcheon Family Garden, Baekseok Children's Park, Bangok Children's Park, Gyeongin Children's Park and Hanul Neighborhood Park.

The pools are free of charge for children in elementary school (age 12 and under) and their guardians. The operating period runs from July 21 through Aug. 23.

Yangcheon-gu has operated free wading facilities every summer to help residents beat the heat. The Anyangcheon Family Garden wading pool, which opened in 2023, has become a popular neighborhood destination, featuring a water tunnel, umbrella fountain and water basket.

The district plans to strengthen facility inspections and hygiene management so visitors can enjoy the water safely and comfortably. Water quality tests will be conducted every 15 days during the operating period, along with thorough sanitation checks.

"We will do our best to operate and manage water facilities across all areas of the district so residents can enjoy cool, safe leisure activities close to home," a district official said.
