Expansion of key ruling disclosures aims to strengthen public's right to know
The Intellectual Property Office's Patent Tribunal announced Monday that it will expand public disclosure of key patent rulings as part of a website overhaul designed to improve access to tribunal information.
The redesign focuses on strengthening a user-centered information system, with particular emphasis on improving accessibility to major rulings.
To that end, the tribunal will curate and publish selected rulings — including monthly highlights and decisions that have drawn significant public attention — so that users can more easily find information on major patent cases.
The tribunal also plans to add guidance on the tribunal-mediation linkage system and how to apply for it, while continuing to provide essential resources such as the tribunal handbook and oral hearing manual. The additions are intended to deepen public understanding of the patent tribunal process.
"Through this website overhaul, we will make it easier for the public to access tribunal information and strengthen the provision of information centered on key rulings," Patent Tribunal President Kim Ki-bum said. "We will continue to expand tribunal information services to meet the public's expectations."
