Campaign promotes Norwegian mackerel and salmon on major Seoul billboards
Premier League superstar Erling Haaland will serve as the face of a campaign promoting Norwegian seafood in South Korea.
The Norwegian Seafood Council announced Sunday that it will run the Erling Haaland campaign throughout June across Seoul and on social media channels.
Haaland, a 25-year-old striker for Manchester City and one of the Premier League's marquee players, was born in England and holds Norwegian citizenship. He will represent Norway at the World Cup this month. He has served as a global ambassador for Seafood from Norway since 2024 and recently extended the partnership through 2028.
The campaign, launched amid surging enthusiasm among football fans at home and abroad, aims to leverage Haaland's global profile to familiarize South Korean consumers with the quality and origin of Norwegian salmon and mackerel.
The Norwegian Seafood Council will air campaign videos themed "Norwegian Seafood, Haaland's Choice" on major outdoor advertising screens across Seoul — including a five-story building near Exit 7 of Gwanghwamun Station and a large billboard near Exit 8 of Hongik University Station, both broadcasting daily.
The videos will also run at major Seoul subway stations including Samseong, Seolleung, Sinsa, Gangnam and Hongik University stations. A consumer participation event will be held on the official Seafood from Norway Korea Instagram account.
"We are delighted to promote the excellence and appeal of Norwegian seafood alongside Seafood from Norway ambassador Erling Haaland at a time when interest in football is growing worldwide," said Ingebjørg Jordal, Korea director at the Norwegian Seafood Council. "We hope this campaign helps Korean consumers become more familiar with Norwegian seafood and builds trust and interest in its Norwegian origin."
