China investment from September plan moves forward
New production lines to be built on 185,000-square-meter site
Changshu to support administrative procedures including project approval
Doosan Corp. announced Friday it has signed an investment agreement with China's Changshu to build CCL (copper clad laminate) production lines.
The signing ceremony was held Thursday at Suzhou City Hall in Jiangsu Province, China, and was attended by Suzhou Mayor Wang Wei, Doosan Corp. President Yoo Seung-woo and Doosan Electronics BG Head Kim In-wook.
The agreement formalizes the China portion — worth about 550 billion won — of Doosan Corp.'s roughly 970 billion won ($724 million) investment plan announced in September.
Doosan Corp. plans to build new production lines on a roughly 185,000-square-meter site near its existing Changshu factory, with investment to be deployed in stages through 2028.
The company expects to draw on the experience, personnel and infrastructure it has accumulated since beginning CCL factory operations in Changshu in 2012.
The new lines are set to come online sequentially from the second half of 2028. Changshu has agreed to support administrative procedures — including project approval and registration, licensing and permitting, and future operational processes — to ensure the project proceeds smoothly.
"The scale-up plans are being carried out at a brisk pace, from Gimje in North Jeolla Province to Changshu in China," Doosan Corp. President Yoo said. "We will supply customers with the volumes they need on time, and firmly establish our leadership in the high-end CCL market, backed by our unrivaled technology and advanced production capabilities."
Earlier, on Oct. 27, Doosan Corp. signed a separate investment agreement with North Jeolla Province and Gimje to build a dedicated CCL production line for optical modules.
Under that deal, the company will invest 399.2 billion won to construct a production facility with a total floor area of about 33,000 square meters within the Gimje Jipyeongseon General Industrial Complex by 2028. In April, Doosan also announced plans to build a new factory in Thailand.
