Regulatory filing Thursday confirms removal from special-related-party status
SK Group Vice Chairman Jang Dong-hyun has stepped down from active management.
SK Inc., the group's holding company, disclosed Thursday that Jang was removed from special-related-party status as of Sunday. Jang had been classified as a special related party because he held roughly 120,000 shares of SK Inc. and served as a registered director of an affiliate.
Jang led SK Ecoplant as its chief executive since late 2023, spearheading a business restructuring before recently stepping down from the role.
SK Ecoplant had been pursuing an initial public offering, but after conditions proved unfavorable, SK Inc. decided to absorb the unit as a wholly owned subsidiary.
Jang is widely regarded as one of SK Group's foremost strategists and financial experts. He joined Yukong — the predecessor of SK Innovation — in 1991 and went on to serve as head of strategic planning and chief financial officer at SK Telecom before becoming CEO of SK Telecom and later CEO of SK Inc.
