Busan has been named Best Culinary Destination at the TripZilla Excellence Awards 2026, hosted by TripZilla, Southeast Asia's leading online travel media outlet.

The city announced Thursday that it had won the Best Culinary Destination award this year, following last year's Best City Destination honor — its second consecutive win at the awards.

TripZilla is Southeast Asia's largest digital travel media company, producing travel content and operating country-specific online platforms. Its media network reaches more than 20 million people monthly, centered on key Southeast Asian markets including Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines and Indonesia.

The TripZilla Excellence Awards are held annually to recognize outstanding travel destinations and tourism services. Busan was the sole winner in the Best Culinary Destination category this year.

TripZilla highlighted Busan's rich culinary resources alongside the city's distinctive local food culture and its appeal as a coastal city. The outlet spotlighted fresh seafood and signature local dishes — pork gukbap, milmyeon and ssiat hotteok among them. The recognition reflects the international standing Busan has built around its marine environment, natural scenery and food scene.

Busan Mayor Jeon Jae-soo said the city would link its broad culinary offerings — from Busan's distinctive food culture to world-class fine dining — with local tourism resources, so visitors can experience both the flavors and character of the city. "We will continue to strengthen Busan's competitiveness as a global culinary tourism destination," he said.
