Shin also to attend BIS Board of Directors meeting
Bank of Korea Governor Shin Hyun-song will travel to Switzerland to attend a series of Bank for International Settlements meetings and discuss the state of the global economy.
The Bank of Korea said Thursday that Shin will depart for Basel, where the BIS Governors' Meeting is scheduled for Friday. Shin is expected to return Wednesday.
Shin will participate in the Global Economy Meeting, the Meeting of Governors from Major Emerging Market Economies, and the Meeting of Governors, where he will discuss recent developments in the global economy and financial markets with fellow central bank governors.
In his capacity as a BIS board member, Shin will also attend the BIS Board of Directors meeting and the Economic Consultative Committee.
The trip comes ahead of the Bank of Korea's final monetary policy decision meeting of the year, set for Nov. 26. The central bank held its benchmark interest rate steady at 3 percent last month while leaving open the possibility of a further increase.
