A small restaurant owner was moved by an unexpected act of kindness on the first day of business — a customer who had asked to cancel an order came back and placed a new one, adding 25 bottles of cider as an opening gift with no intention of receiving them.

According to a post shared on the social media platform Threads, a restaurant owner identified only as A opened a new eatery in Ansan, Gyeonggi Province and shared the story along with a photo of the receipt on Wednesday.

Trouble began with the very first delivery order. A had run out of ingredients for a steamed Hong scallop dish but had already accepted the order. A called the customer directly to explain, and while on the phone mentioned it was the restaurant's first-ever delivery order since opening. The customer asked to cancel everything.

Shortly after, another order came in from the same customer — this time for a different menu item, along with 25 bottles of cider. In the special instructions field, the customer wrote: "Please don't send the cider, owner. It's an opening gift. Make the food delicious. Congratulations on your opening."

A shared the order details online, writing, "The world is still worth living in," and adding, "I'll make it big and definitely pay this back."

A also said a handwritten note was included with the delivery, thanking the customer for "such a generous gift as our very first delivery customer."

Commenters responded warmly. "What a precious customer to meet on day one," one wrote. Another said, "My heart sank when they asked to cancel everything — what a twist." A third added, "That's a significant amount of money to spend on a complete stranger. Remarkable."
