Hosted by IFLA in Hong Kong; 'Twin Bubbles' project in Dangjin earns children and youth category honor
Samsung C&T's Resort Division announced Thursday it had won the Award of Distinction in the children and youth category at the 2026 International Federation of Landscape Architects Global Landscape Architecture Awards, held in Hong Kong.
The IFLA, founded in 1948, is the leading global body in landscape architecture and annually recognizes outstanding projects from more than 80 member countries.
This year's awards departed from previous editions, which had focused on scale and design quality, by adopting global landscape agenda items — including climate crisis response, community welfare and biodiversity conservation — as well as the UN SDGs as key evaluation criteria.
Samsung C&T's Resort Division received the award for the "Twin Bubbles" project at Hoban Dangjin Sucheong Summit Phase 3 in Dangjin, South Chungcheong Province, carried out by its in-house Green Space Solution team.
The project was recognized for creating a nature-immersive play environment where children can engage in ecological learning while playing outdoors.
"Twin Bubbles" features a water-circulation system that purifies rainwater collected within the complex and reuses it for a water screen, fountains and cooling mist installations. The garden was planted with trees selected for their capacity to absorb fine dust and carbon dioxide.
The project also incorporated a community model developed in collaboration with the city of Dangjin — a UNICEF Child-Friendly City — reflecting input from both experts and children.
"We will continue to expand sustainable landscape solutions that bring humans and nature into harmony, so that our customers can enjoy the finest scenery and ecological value," a Samsung C&T Resort Division official said.
