Platform aims to boost employee pride by spotlighting company history
Employees can contribute records directly
Hyundai Steel announced Thursday the launch of H.ARCHIVE, a heritage preservation platform built with the participation of its employees.
Founded in 1953 as Korea Heavy Industries and Construction, Hyundai Steel has grown over more than seven decades into one of South Korea's leading steelmakers. The company said it created the archive because the history of its adaptation to industrial change — and the efforts of its workforce — represent core assets worth preserving.
H.ARCHIVE combines two main functions: an archive feature that systematically collects, classifies and stores historical materials, and a curation feature that lets employees directly experience, accumulate and share records.
Through the archive function, employees can search and browse heritage assets in various formats — photos, videos and documents — and use them in their work or content production.
The curation menu connects materials from different periods and categories into a single narrative, presenting exhibition-style content that reexamines Hyundai Steel's history, technology and people. It brings together the company's defining moments to convey the significance of the challenges and changes embedded in its growth.
Any employee can submit photos, videos or documents directly to H.ARCHIVE; submissions go through an editorial review before being added to the official archive. The company also plans to run themed collection campaigns and participation events to continuously uncover records and stories scattered across the organization.
"Hyundai Steel's history is built from the dedication of employees who gave their best at every moment of challenge and change," a company official said. "We hope H.ARCHIVE becomes a meaningful space where employees can rediscover the company's history and values and take pride in them."
Meanwhile, Hyundai Steel recently launched Steel-X, a platform that turns internal documents and data into searchable assets and provides integrated search, analysis and a range of AI services.
Steel-X was built to make better use of knowledge spread across multiple systems and departments, and to reduce repetitive information searches and document-drafting tasks to improve workplace productivity. Hyundai Steel and Hyundai Autoever collaborated from the planning stage to reflect actual work environments and user needs in the platform's development.
