Seocho-gu announced that its Little Baseball Club has claimed the national title at a major tournament drawing more than 130 teams from across the country.

The Seocho-gu Little Baseball Club won the under-10 (U-10) division of the 2026 Andong Mayor Cup National Little League Baseball Tournament, held from Oct. 1 to Oct. 12 at Yongsang Lifestyle Sports Park Baseball Field and Andong Dream Baseball Park in Andong, North Gyeongsang Province.

Organized by the Korea Little Baseball Federation, the tournament brought together more than 130 teams nationwide to compete. The Seocho-gu club advanced to the final on the strength of a solid pitching rotation, focused hitting and steady defense, then defeated the Yongin Bareun Little Baseball Club in the championship game on Oct. 12 to claim the trophy. Park Rae-i, a fourth-grader at Sinjung Elementary School in Seocho-gu, was named the tournament's most valuable player.

On Wednesday, Seocho-gu District Mayor Jeon Sung-su hosted Director Kim Sung-hwan, players, parents and other members of the club — 19 people in total — at the Open Imagination Cafe inside the district office to celebrate the national championship. Jeon shared in the players' reflections on their journey to the title, and the team presented him with a commemorative glove and team cap bearing the players' autographs as a token of gratitude.

"I sincerely congratulate the players, coaching staff and parents on this hard-earned achievement, the result of their shared sweat and dedication," Jeon said. "We will continue to provide steady support so that our young baseball players can pursue their dreams and train in a stable environment."
