Pohang Mayor Park Yong-seon met with Ministry of Planning and Budget Director General Kim Myeong-jung on Wednesday to request increased national funding for key local projects in the 2027 government budget, the city announced.

The five projects Park highlighted were the construction of the Yeongil Bay Crossing Bridge, the scale-up of beamlines at the fourth-generation synchrotron radiation accelerator, the establishment of a food-tech robot testing and certification center, the development of a digitally based resource-recycling industrial complex, and the K-next-generation electric propulsion vessel global innovation special zone.

Pohang city officials explained the necessity and urgency of each project and asked the Ministry of Planning and Budget for its attention and support in securing increased budget allocations during the National Assembly's deliberation process.

"Until the very moment the National Assembly completes its budget review, I will work closely with local political circles to secure the maximum possible national funding for our key projects and channel it into tangible results that residents can feel in their daily lives," Park said.
