System reviews content and context of posts
Community operating guidelines also overhauled
Toss Securities said Wednesday it has introduced an AI-based post moderation system for its community platform.
The upgrade was designed to more accurately screen inappropriate posts within the community. Going beyond the existing keyword-based filtering approach, the new system comprehensively analyzes the content and context of each post.
After a post is created or edited, the system automatically analyzes its title, body text and images. It detects content that undermines healthy investment communication — including profanity, defamatory language, hate speech, discriminatory expressions and promotions for illegal stock-tipping services. Based on the review results, the system assesses the severity of any violation and applies measures such as excluding the post from recommendations or hiding it entirely.
The profanity filtering function applied at the writing stage has also been upgraded. The AI moderation model now detects a wide range of workarounds that users commonly employ to circumvent prohibited terms, and can flag various altered expressions as well.
Previously, posts containing prohibited terms were blocked from being published altogether. Now, only the offending expressions are masked, allowing the rest of the post to go through. The improvement establishes a two-stage moderation process: prohibited-term filtering at the time of writing, followed by automatic AI review after submission.
Toss Securities also overhauled its community operating standards, introducing a community service content guideline that sets out restricted categories — including profanity, harmful content, hate speech, discriminatory expressions, promotional material and market-disrupting activity — along with the corresponding sanctions. An appeals process through the customer service center is also available.
"We focused on reducing investors' exposure to posts that cause discomfort or inappropriate investment solicitations, and on enabling communication in a more trustworthy environment," a Toss Securities official said. "We will continue to improve the community experience going forward."
In October, Toss Securities held an ethics and compliance management declaration ceremony at its headquarters in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, with all employees in attendance. The event was organized to publicly affirm, both internally and externally, the company's commitment to placing ethics, compliance and consumer protection at the core of its growth — and to ensuring all staff uphold those principles in every aspect of their work.
