Yangcheon-gu will hold the "2027 Yangcheon-gu Senior Employment Information Session" at Haenuri Town on Dec. 2, offering older residents a range of job information and guidance on new opportunities for social participation.

Organized by the Yangcheon Senior Club and co-hosted by 11 senior employment agencies in the district, the event targets residents aged 60 and older, with about 1,000 expected to attend. Participants can access next year's senior employment information, personalized consultations and hands-on programs to help prepare for work, all in one place.

The session will proceed in two parts: a first segment featuring a pre-event performance and commendations for distinguished contributors, followed by a second segment providing guidance on the 2027 senior employment project. During the first part, Yangcheon-gu District Mayor Lee Gi-jae will present citations to 20 people — 15 outstanding participants who helped promote the senior employment program and five agency workers who contributed to improving senior welfare.

Haenuri Hall will then host three separate rounds of the 2027 senior employment information session, where staff will explain activity details by project type, eligibility requirements and application procedures. A question-and-answer segment will allow attendees to get their questions answered on the spot.

The lobby will feature consultation booths staffed by all 11 participating agencies, offering one-on-one tailored guidance based on each visitor's residential area, preferred job type and activity conditions.

Alongside this, a range of hands-on side events will add to the atmosphere — an AI-powered health checkup, a hand-drip coffee experience led by a senior barista, and on-site ID photo shoots for job applications.

Residents wishing to attend can pre-register via the QR code in the event notice from Wednesday through Nov. 18, and walk-in registration will also be available on the day.

The district has been steadily expanding its senior employment offerings to promote economic independence and broader social participation among older residents. This year, about 3,700 seniors have been active across the community, contributing in areas ranging from public facility management and child care to welfare facility support and work at cafes and restaurants.

The district plans to broaden the scope of its senior employment program further next year. New roles will include the Y Integrated Care Support Corps, which assists with integrated care services; a Senior Aviation Safety Monitoring Corps in partnership with Gimpo Airport; and a no-smoking zone inspector role linked to local public health centers. Recruitment for 2027 participants is set to begin Dec. 4.

"A job is more than financial help for older residents — it is a precious opportunity to stay connected with society and maintain an active daily life," District Mayor Lee said. "We will continue to identify quality jobs that draw on seniors' experience and capabilities, and actively support them in enjoying a healthy and fulfilling retirement."
